George Berry Jones

May 15, 1960 — February 22, 2026

Groves, Texas

George Berry Jones, 65, of Groves, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at his home. George was born on May 15, 1960, in Port Arthur, Texas, to James and Helen Jones. He graduated from Port Neches-Groves High school in 1978 and then attended Lamar Institute of Technology to become a Machinist. George had a fulfilling career starting his journey with Gulf Oil as a Machinist, which later became Chevron and then Clark. His professional path continued in technical sales and service at John Zink and then Zeeco, which allowed him to travel the world. He married the love of his life Christy Dauphine Jones on December 21, 1979 and was married for 46 wonderful years. His dedication to his work was evident, but it paled in comparison to the devotion he held for his family and friends. He was a remarkable individual, whose legacy will be cherished by all who knew him.

George was blessed to be known affectionately as "Pops" to his two grandchildren, Scout Levi Jones and Brixtyn Ruth Hernandez, whom he adored deeply. His grandchildren were his greatest source of strength and the reason he kept fighting. George's warm spirit and loving nature illuminated the lives of all around him, leaving an indelible mark on his family, including his wife, Christy Dauphine Jones of Groves, his son, Caleb Ryan Jones and his wife, Madison of Lago Vista, Texas, and his daughter, Caitlin Bryn Hernandez and her husband, Julian of Nederland. His influence extended to his sister, Sharon Labrie, along with his nieces.

Whether he was surfing the waves, out on the golf course, or fixing up a vehicle, George could do it all. As an avid truck and car enthusiast, George found joy in sharing his passion with others, forging friendships wherever he roamed. His friendly demeanor and genuine nature made him a friend to everyone, allowing him to connect with people from all walks of life. The memories of his vibrant character and infectious smile will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones.

George was a part of the CLOVES Syndrome Community as he was 1 of around 200 people worldwide living with the condition with him being the oldest known patient. He was passionate about raising awareness and helping in the search for a cure.

Loved ones who were there to welcome George into Heaven were his parents, James and Helen Jones, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Chester and Elsie Dauphine, and his sister-in-law, Carol Dauphine. Though they are no longer with us, their memories live on through the love and lessons they imparted to George, which he carried throughout his life.

As we celebrate the life of George Berry Jones, let us remember a man who devoted himself to his family and made friends wherever he went. His unwavering support and affection touched countless lives, and his legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of his family and friends.
