Obituary
Mrs. Genie Marie Chance, born Genie Marie Hardy, peacefully passed away on July 8, 2024, at Orchard Park of Kyle, Texas. She was surrounded by love as she embarked on her next journey.
Genie was a remarkable woman with a zest for life and a heart with kindness. She was born on November 4, 1928, in Port Arthur, Texas, to her loving parents Vernie O'Neal Hardy and Georgia May Hardy.
Genie's life was marked by significant accomplishments and a spirit of continuous growth. She took great pride in her "Hussar" years and cherished the memories made during that time. Her journey in education was notable from graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School to attending Community College in her 70's to hone her computer skills.
One of Genie's proudest achievements was embracing tap dancing in her 50's, showcasing her willingness to learn and explore new experiences throughout her life. Her resilience and passion for learning serve as an inspiration to all who knew her.
In a bond that lasted 54 years, Genie shared a deep and unwavering love with her late husband, Carl B. Chance. Together they navigated life's ups and downs hand in hand, creating great memories that will live on forever. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Vernie and Georgia Hardy, and her brother, Pearman O'Neal Hardy, and nephew, Matthew Hardy.
Genie is survived by her beloved daughter, Georganna Chance Munro of Pearland, Texas; son, Dean O'Neal Chance and his wife, Brenda of Canyon Lake, Texas; cherished niece Kerry Hardy; as well as nephews, Pat Hardy and Eugene Hardy.
A visitation to honor Genie's life will take place on July 15, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at 1605 Avenue H in Nederland, Texas, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location at 2:00 pm.
Genie Marie Chance will always be remembered for the love she shared, the wisdom she imparted, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. May she rest in peace knowing that her legacy lives on through the memories she created.
