Gary Wayne Franklin, 73, of Groves, Texas passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Gary was born October 13, 1949 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Clarence and Versie Franklin.
Gary served in the United States Army and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Port Arthur. He retired from Texaco Refinery after forty-five years of service as a machinist. Gary enjoyed various types of cars, motorcycles and collecting antiques.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Arnold Franklin and Versie Elizabeth (Smith) Franklin.
Those left to cherish Gary’s memory include his son, Darryl W. Franklin of Nederland, Texas; brother, Glenn A. Franklin and his wife, Glenda of Nederland, Texas; sister, Phyllis E. Beavens of Groves, Texas.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Gary’s Life to begin at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2022, at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, with full Military Honors to be provided by the Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group.
