A Life Remembered

Obituary

Gary Bell, 81, of Nederland, Texas, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, October 19, 2026. He was born on September 18, 1945, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Frank and Thelma Bell. Gary was a man of strong faith and a dedicated member of First Assembly of Port Arthur.

Gary proudly served as a pipefitter for 40 years with Pipe Fitters Local 195, a career from which he retired with distinction. Beyond his professional life, Gary had a vibrant spirit and a passion for many hobbies. He loved to travel and was a talented woodworker, often building beautiful cabinets. He also enjoyed playing his trumpet, sharing his musical gifts with others. Gary was known for his incredible talent in building things; if he knew someone needed something, he would often go home, draw up the plans, and start building it.

Gary was a truly remarkable individual, always happy and with a smile on his face. He was incredibly loyal to his friends and never met a stranger, as he genuinely loved people. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Karon Bell of Nederland, Texas; his son, Craig Bell and his wife, Rachael of Pinehurst, Texas; his daughter, Cari Reynolds and her husband, Guy of Port Neches, Texas; his grandchildren, Chase Hardin, Zachary Hardin, and Victoria Bell; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Thelma Bell; and his brothers, Gene Bell and Thurman Bell.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, located at 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas 77627.

Gary was a kind man with a heart of gold. He loved his family and he loved the Lord. He was always checking in on me and my special needs daughter. When I was diagnosed with cancer he was faithful to pray for me and rejoiced when I was cancer free. He was always there to lend a helping hand. He will be missed.

We moved away from the Port Arthur area about 25 years ago and have not seen Gary or Karon for a long time but were friends at P/A A/G for about 18 years Gary was truly a great man of faith. We loved to hear him play his trumpet. Our prayers will be with Karon and the rest of the family for strength, peace, and comfort during this time.
