ibGarnet Ray Stewart, 74, of Nederland, TX, passed away surrounded by family and friends on November 27, 2008 at Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, TX. He was born on July 3, 1934 in Gillette, Texas to Edgar C. Stewart and Mary Townsend Stewart. Ray was the loving husband of Carolyn B. Stewart of Nederland cherished father of sons: Jesse Stewart and wife Annette of Fannet, Raymond Stewart and wife Ruthann of Nederland daughters: Ellen Branshaw of Nederland, Sharon Roccaforte and husband Larry of Nederland, Deborah Stewart of Groves, Pamela Stewart of Nederland, Angela Weaver and husband James of Bronson, Kelley Byrd and husband Keith of Groves. He was the beloved brother of Carroll Stewart and wife Madelen of Nederland and devoted grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joyce Stanley and grandson Stewart Baxter. Ray was retired from Coca Cola as a fleet supervisor and a member of the workers union. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and was active in all class reunions.Ray was a member of Fellowship Baptist ChurchA gathering of family and friends was held on Friday, November 28, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland, TX.Funeral service will be Saturday, November 29, at 2:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland, TX, with Bro.
