Fernando Chavez-Figueroa, affectionately known by those who loved him as "Pelon" embarked on his eternal journey on October 30, 2024, at the age of 45. Born on February 8, 1979, in Ciudad Valles, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, he eventually made his home in Port Arthur, Texas, where he embraced life with unyielding passion and dedication.
As a skilled welder, Fernando dedicated himself to his craft, taking great pride in the accomplishments of his profession. His dedication extended beyond his work; his love for family was the cornerstone of his life. A devoted husband to Erika Lopez for 26 cherished years, he treasured moments spent with his beloved wife and their children. His daughters, Magda Alcorla and Adamarys Chavez, and sons, Fernando Chavez, Jr. and Bryan Chavez, were the pride of his heart, with Fernando often reflecting on his proudest accomplishment: being the father to his baby girl and witnessing both of his sons rise to be accomplished welders in their own right.
To his mother, Consuelo Ceja, he was a loving son whose presence brought joy and warmth. Fernando was also a devoted grandfather to Kamila Chavez, Julian Barbosa, Caleb Barbosa, and Ezekiel Chavez and was treasured by his brother, Juan Chavez. His family circle was made complete with his loyal dog, Hulk Chavez, who was a constant companion.
Fernando had a zest for life filled with hobbies and interests that brought him joy. His enthusiasm for sports spanned football and basketball, and he proudly proclaimed himself a staunch fan of the Dallas Cowboys. The open road called to him, fueled by his love for motorcycles and big trucks, which he often considered a source of freedom and adventure.
While his departure leaves a void that can never be filled, his legacy of love and laughter will resonate through the lives of those he touched. He is welcomed in the afterlife by his deceased brother, Francisco Chavez, whose memory remains cherished within the family.
Fernando Chavez-Figueroa will be remembered not only for his talents and interests but also for the warmth of his heart and the love he so freely gave to his family. May he rest in peace, knowing the profound impact he had on all who knew and loved him.
