Kent Griffin, a cherished husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, peacefully passed away on March 18, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Born on September 25, 1949, in Port Arthur, Texas, Kent lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and an enduring love for family and the outdoors.
A graduate of Nederland High School in the class of 1968, Kent proudly upheld the values instilled in him during his youth. He was a faithful member of the First Methodist Church of Nederland, where his spirit of kindness and fellowship was well known. Throughout his professional career, Kent served as Oil Movements Supervisor at ExxonMobil for over 36 years, where his dedication, leadership, and steady presence were deeply respected by colleagues and friends alike.
Kent’s passions extended well beyond his career. He was known for his enthusiasm for outdoor sports, embracing the camaraderie and competitive spirit they offered. His love for bass fishing and deer hunting were cherished pastimes. Some of his most treasured memories were made at the deer lease, where he spent countless seasons hunting alongside friends, and fishing trips shared with his sons and friends. Above all, however, Kent’s heart belonged to his family.
He greatly treasured spending time with his loved ones, especially delighting in moments shared with his four grandchildren, who were truly his pride and joy. Paw-Paw rarely missed a single one of his grandchildren’s events, always showing up to cheer them on with unwavering support. His beloved wife, Debby Griffin, whom he met in high school, stood by his side as his constant companion and partner throughout life’s journey. Kent was a loving father to his sons, Kirk Griffin and his wife, Jolee, as well as Kris Griffin and his wife, Dacia. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Emma, Koen, Kael, and Kynslee Griffin.
Kent’s family ties extended to his brother Mark Griffin and his wife, Peggy, and his sister-in-law, Sandra Griffin, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his dear parents, Goodwin Griffin and Bobbie Mozelle Williamson, and his brother, Dale Griffin, whose memories he honored throughout his life. His love extended to many cousins whom he cherished dearly.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 1605 Avenue H in Nederland, Texas.
