Edward Lee "Eddie" Jungen, 82, of Lumberton, formerly of Groves, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025. He was born on December 26, 1942, in Houston, Texas, and lived a life characterized by dedication to his family and community.
Eddie devoted much of his career to the automotive industry, ultimately retiring from Wilson's Automotive. His contributions to the industry were matched only by his devotion to his loved ones. He was a faithful family man, cherishing the bonds he formed with his wife, Evelyn Jungen, whom he lovingly shared 57 years of marriage. Eddie is also survived by his children, Michelle Smith and her husband Shane, Sheila Jungen Mihalik and her husband Randy, and Craig Jungen and his wife Stephanie. His love extended to his grandchildren, Tori Smith and her fiancé Ronnie Costello, Paige Malone and her husband Tyler, Dawson Droll, and Avery Jungen. He is further survived by his sister, Ann Murphy.
An honorable veteran, Eddie served in the United States Navy, and this commitment to service continued throughout his life. He was a proud parishioner of Immaculate Conception St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Groves, where he served as an usher. Eddie was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Groves #3491 and the American Legion in Port Arthur Post 0007.
Eddie had a passion for storytelling, and he loved history, particularly the stories of war. His interests also included a remarkable collection of knives and a deep appreciation for classic cars, all of which added color to his already vibrant personality.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Immaculate Conception St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Groves. Rite of Committal will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bernice Jungen, and his brother, Ray "Butch" Jungen. His legacy of love, dedication, and service will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.
