Doris O'Quinn

Doris Maxine O’Quinn, a strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Nederland, Texas. Born on May 15, 1933, in Simpson, Louisiana, Doris embodied elegance and grace, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met throughout her remarkable life.

Doris dedicated a significant portion of her career to Southwestern Bell, where she distinguished herself as a manager and switchboard operator. Beyond her professional life, she was self-taught in the arts of repair and remodeling—skills that reflected her independence, creativity, and drive.

Those who knew Doris will fondly remember her as an elegant lady who always maintained an impeccable appearance. She took great pride in her hair and nails, a reflection of her thoughtful attention to detail. A proud member of the Red Hat Society, she cherished the friendships, laughter, and fun she shared with her fellow Red Hatters.

Doris adored her grandchildren and delighted in their presence, creating countless cherished memories together. Her affection also extended to her beloved little companion dogs—Roxy, Ginger, and Tina—who brought her endless joy and comfort.

She enjoyed engaging in playful competition, especially in games like Bunco and Mexican Train, with her family and friends. Her vibrant personality and zest for life also shone through her love of gardening and traveling, passions that enriched her life and provided her with many treasured stories and experiences.

Doris is survived by her loving daughters, Linda Medrano and Lisa Jannise, who carry forward her legacy; her grandchildren, Derek McGill and his wife LaDixie, and Kristina Cleveland and her husband Bobby, and her great-grandchildren, Charles McGill, Landon McGill, Addison McGill, Ryleigh Cleveland, Miles O’Quinn, Parker O’Quinn, Halie O’Quinn, and Max O’Quinn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Ethel Temple; her brother, Ralph Temple; her sisters, Faye Massengill and Earline Lowe; and her son, Thomas O’Quinn, whom she loved dearly.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park, 2725 North Main Street, Vidor, Texas.

Her absence will be profoundly felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Doris leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, elegance, and strength—one that will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come. May she rest in peace.
