Doris Marie Storey Guerrero was born August 10, 1941, in Dry Creek, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at the age of 84. She is survived by her brother, John Woodrow Storey, Jr.; sister, Norma Blenderman, brother, Gary (Butch) Storey and wife Clara Storey; son, Lance Bradley and his wife Raquel West Bradley; step-son, Sal Guerrero and wife Marilyn Guerrero; step-daughter, Christine Haynes and husband Jason Haynes; step-daughter, Misty Rivera and husband Jason Rivera; daughter in-law, Natasha Burnett; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great- great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
“D-Marie”, as she was affectionately known, held mostly clerical and book-keeping jobs over the years at numerous places including Bradley’s Automotive, P&L Alternator, The Window Pane, Dr. Jack Taylor, The City of Port Arthur Health Department, and the Port Arthur Public Library. Later in life she would keep herself busy summarizing depositions and medical records for her son’s Law Firm.
D-Marie was an avid reader and has quite the collection of books she has read over the years. D-Marie was known for her quick wit, great sense of humor, and spunkiness. Despite her medical issues, she managed to maintain her sense of humor until she passed. In addition to being an avid reader, while her and Big Sal were married, they enjoyed going out and dancing where they formed many close friendships that continued until her passing. D-Marie also enjoyed her trips to the casino with her friends as well as working in her yard. The title and role that she was most proud of was that of “Grandma”. She never missed one of her grandchildren’s birthdays, always acknowledging them with a card and gift. She made every possible effort, even until her passing, to stay in touch with all of them and to let them know they were loved. She and Big Sal rarely missed one of the grandkid’s events. One of D-Marie’s talents was finding sand dollars in the surf at Crystal Beach. She had a special ability to spot a sand dollar in the surf and enjoyed many walks on the beach when her health allowed. Next to her grandkids, one of the other things she enjoyed was listening to Willie Nelson and Johnny Rodriguez, two of her all-time favorite singers.
The family would like to thank the ownership and staff at Oak Grove Nursing Facility for the wonderful care they provided to D-Marie. Also, Vivel “V” Medina was D Marie’s caretaker. Her compassion, friendship and caring for D-Marie until her passing will always be remembered and appreciated.
