Dannie Schley Gaudet, born on September 23, 1944, in Port Arthur, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 28, 2026, in Port Neches, Texas. He was 81 years old at the time of his passing, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and family memories.Dannie spent 37 years of his life at Dupont SRW. Dannie was a proud alumnus of Bishop Byrne Catholic High School, class of 1962, and he honorably served in the United States Coast Guard.
In life, Dannie was a man of strong faith and conviction. He was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland, Texas, and an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5145. This highlighted his dedication to the principles of charity and fellowship.
Dannie had an unwavering passion for family and believed that the greatest joys in life came from those cherished relationships. He leaves his loving wife of 60 years, Kathy Gaudet, who stood by his side through all of life's seasons. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and commitment. He is also survived by his sons, Brian Gaudet and wife Jamie, Mark Gaudet and his fiancée Portia. A devoted grandfather, he is remembered fondly by his granddaughter, Samantha Gaudet and her husband Ryan McNeil, as well as extended grandchildren Kindall and Madison. He will also be missed by his brothers, David and wife Linda, Dale and wife Rachel, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
All of Dannie’ s family and friends were also his closest companions with whom he shared countless moments of joy and collaboration on various projects.
Dannie was an avid fisherman and an enthusiastic duck hunter. These were not merely hobbies, but avenues through which he formed priceless memories with his family and friends. He cherished each opportunity to connect with those he loved, sharing laughter and stories while immersed in nature’s beauty.
Dannie’s warmth and camaraderie have touched many hearts, and his absence will be deeply felt. He has reunited with his parents Raymond and Betty Gaudet, his brother Dwight, and sisters Debby and Denise, who precede him in death.
The Gaudet family invites friends and community members to join them in commemorating Dannie’s life. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, beginning at 3:00 PM to 6:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 5:00pm at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland, with burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
As we bid farewell to a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, we carry forward his spirit in our hearts, valuing the simple pleasures of life, the joy of family, and the importance of community. He will be forever missed until we meet again.
