Connie Gontarek passed away peacefully at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Groves, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the age of 90. Born on August 12, 1934, in Staten Island, New York, Connie was a simple woman who dedicated her life to the service of others.
Throughout her life, Connie was known for her unwavering love for children, often finding joy in babysitting. Her nurturing spirit shone through in all she did, embracing the laughter and innocence of youth with open arms. As a parishioner of Immaculate Conception/St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Connie demonstrated her devotion to her faith.
Connie's early years were filled with fond memories of roller skating and playing jacks, which reflected her joyful personality and zest for life. She carried these joyful moments into adulthood, always cherishing the simple pleasures that life had to offer.
She is survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews, who will carry on her legacy of kindness and compassion. Her family remembers her not only for her caring nature but for the way she enriched their lives with her love and laughter.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Viola Julia (Emelita) Johnson and John Edward Gontarek, as well as her brothers, John Gontarek and David Johnson. Their memories will forever be intertwined with hers as they rest together in peace.
A visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, located at 5601 39th St. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Connie Gontarek's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
