Charles Rose, Jr., a cherished resident of Port Arthur, Texas, and a beloved figure in his community, entered eternal rest on January 4, 2026, at the age of sixty-five. Born on November 15, 1960, in Port Arthur, Texas, Charles exemplified a life devoted to family, friends, and the great outdoors.
A self-employed tree cutter, Charles was known not only for his outstanding craftsmanship but also for his loving spirit. Esteemed by his neighbors, he took great joy in helping those around him, always ready to lend a hand and share a smile. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies of hunting and fishing, which he pursued with vigor. As a proud member of the Assembly of God, Charles found community and fellowship, embracing a friendly demeanor that drew many to him.
Charles is remembered fondly by his loving wife of forty-five years, Nancy A. Veronie Rose, who stood by his side through life's joys and challenges. He leaves behind a legacy through his children: son Jeremi Gene Rose (Kristi) of Bridge City, daughters Emily Natasha Rose of Nederland, and Kasy Rose Prevost and her husband, Donovan
of Port Arthur. His family grew with the arrival of numerous grandchildren, Ashlyn Rose, Dillon Rose, Tyler Rose, Alexis Rose, Hazel Pompa, Kalissa Henley, Braylon Jacobs, and Kayloni Prevost, along with great-grandchildren Mallory, Jackson, Bowie, Finleigh, Nova, Waylon, Nyla, and Oaklyn, each of whom cherished the time spent with their grandfather.
He is also survived by his dear sisters, Debbie Melancon, Athena Melancon Valdez, Rita Melancon Justice, Peggy Sonnier (Oran), and Michelle Melancon, all of whom recall the countless memories made with their brother.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Jean Rose, and his brother, Tracy Waltrip. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, the impact of his kindness, strength, and love will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.
A visitation to honor Charles will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. A Memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at this location.
His spirit as a great outdoorsman and a friend will be remembered by all who were blessed to cross his path. Charles Rose, Jr. lived a life rich with purpose and love, and he will be missed profoundly by his cherished family and community.
