Carol Adele Bryant, a beloved member of the Port Neches community, passed away on September 18, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on July 4, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, Carol lived a life rich in love, service, and dedication to her family and community.
Carol was a proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1961 and later earned a Bachelor's Degree from Lamar University in Beaumont in 1964. Her career took her through various military bases around the world alongside her husband, Commander Leon Bryant, who preceded her in death after 56 cherished years of marriage. Their journey together included time stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, San Diego, Lemore, California. During these years, she embraced her role as a teacher, imparting knowledge and making lasting connections wherever they went.
She was an active member of Gateway Baptist Church in Port Arthur, where she found joy and fellowship within her community. Carol's passions included gardening and yard work, pursuits that allowed her to nurture her love for nature and create beautiful spaces for those around her.
Carol's loving memory will be cherished by her family, which includes her three sons: Kevin Bryant and his wife, Brandy of Dallas, Texas; Kent Bryant of Houston, Texas; and Kyle Bryant and his wife, Alicia of Picayune, Mississippi. In addition, Carol was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren: Nathan Bryant, Riley Bryant, Lindsey Bryant, and Maggie Bryant. She is survived by her brother, Dan Smith and his wife, Sandy of Houston, Texas, and her sister, Sally Spell and her husband, Michael of Port Arthur, Texas. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Susan Heitshusen.
A visitation will be held in Carol's honor on September 21, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Groves, located at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th St, Groves, Texas, 77619. The burial will take place at Houston National Cemetery on September 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
Carol Adele Bryant's legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
