Calvin “Edelle” Reeves passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at his home in Groves where he lived for over seventy years.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Magnolia Church in Port Neches. Officiating the services will be Reverend Robert Montgomery and Reverend Frank Williams. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Memorial Park in Groves.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Magnolia Church in Port Neches.
Edelle was born in Weldon, Texas, on August 20, 1924. He was the second son of eight sons of Robert L. and Lela Blair Reeves. He grew up in Trinity before moving to Groves. Edelle proudly served his country in the US Army Air Force during WWII. He couldn’t wait to get home and marry the girl next door, Katherine Williams. He did carpenter work before he began working at the Gulf Refinery for thirty-three years. Edelle was a founding member of the Church of God in Groves and helped build the church when it moved to Twin City Highway. He served as treasurer and song leader there for about forty-five years. During the last thirty years he enjoyed worshipping at Magnolia Assembly of God where he served as a Deacon.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of seventy years Katherine Reeves, son, Dennis Reeves; brothers, Robert “R.L.” Reeves and wife Audrey; Allen Reeves and wife Marie; Reverend Gerald and wife Doris; Armon Reeves; Billy Reeves; Doyle Reeves and wife Cora; and Dwight Reeves.
He is survived by his son, Tommy Reeves and wife Fay of Groves, TX; daughter Bonnie Jennings and husband Dale of Port Neches; daughter-in-law Linda Reeves of Groves; sister-in-laws: Dolores Reeves of Sugarland, TX; and Jeanie Reeves of Corpus Christi, TX; three grandchildren, Chris Reeves and wife Amy of Port Neches; James Reeves and wife Robyn of Ocean Springs, MS; Rachel Barth and husband Chuck of Woodville, TX; and six great-grandchildren, Ashton, Kylee, Cooper, Kinsley, Lowell, and Amelia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Airman Ashton Reeves, James Reeves, Chris Reeves, Lowell Tompkins, Chuck Barth, and Mark Phillips.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions can be made to the Magnolia Assembly of God.
