Bertha Lee Savant, born on November 23, 1945, in Mansfield, Louisiana, departed this life on August 8, 2025, in Nederland, Texas. She lived a life devoted to her family and friends, brightening the lives of those around her for many years.
For over twenty years, Bertha worked as a dedicated waitress at the esteemed Schooner Restaurant in Nederland, where her warm spirit and excellent service made guests feel truly welcomed. Throughout her career, she became known for her remarkable ability to make everyone feel special—a talent that extended far beyond her work. Bertha’s personality radiated kindness and compassion, traits she held dearly.
Family was of utmost importance to Bertha. She cherished her role as a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. She is survived by her beloved sons, Doug Savant and his wife, Allenda, of Port Neches, and Stephen Savant and his wife, Amy, of Nederland. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Stephen Savant and his wife, Whitney; Sterling Savant and his wife, Miranda; Sabrina Savant; Luke Savant; and Greg Savant, in addition to her great-grandchildren, Ella Savant, Evyn Savant, Bo Savant, and Olivia Savant, who will carry forward her loving spirit.
Bertha also leaves behind her brother, Red Vandiver, and his wife, Susan. She was an aunt to Keshia Tomplait and her husband, Trey, as well as Cary Vandiver and Darren Vandiver, and was a guiding light in their lives as well.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Carmel Vandiver, and her husband.
Her memory will be honored on August 15, 2025, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, TX 77627. Friends and family are invited to gather from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM to celebrate Bertha's life, share stories, and reflect on the profound impact she had on all who knew her.
In the tapestry of life, Bertha Lee Savant woven vibrant threads of love, joy, and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on generations to come. Her spirit will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all.
