Barry Douglase Craft, a cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Born on April 4, 1941, in Crawford, Ohio, Barry lived a life marked by steadfast dedication, warmth, and a spirited connection to those around him.
Barry’s early years were shaped by the loving guidance of his parents, Walter and Madge Craft, and the close bond he shared with his brother, Gary Craft, all of whom preceded him in death. His journey in service to his country was exemplified through his time in the Air Force, where he answered the call of duty with honor and distinction.
Following his military service, Barry embarked on a career with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier, a role in which he took immense pride. Known for his friendly and outgoing demeanor, Barry became a familiar and trusted figure in the communities he served. His personable nature endeared him to many, reflecting a life dedicated to kindness and connection.
Barry found great joy in his time at the Senior Center in Port Neches, where he was an active presence. His love for this community space was a testament to his enduring spirit and his desire to remain engaged and valued among his peers.
His family was the cornerstone of his life. Barry is survived by his son, Ronald Craft, (Josie), of Port Arthur. He was a proud grandfather to Debra Rena Alvarado, Stephanie Nicole Chambers, and Douglase Jon David Craft, and his great-grandchildren—Gage Craft, Adalynn Lehman, Lea Alvarado, and Emmalee Alvarado—brought him immense happiness and pride. Barry’s sister, Sandy Binau, (Dave), residing in Ohio, also carry forward his memory with fondness.
Barry was preceded in death by his wife, Roswitha Craft, his parents, Walter and Madge Craft, and his brother, Gary Craft. His legacy remains vibrant through the lives of those he loved and who loved him in return. His absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of family and friends alike.
