Austin Solis, a cherished resident of Port Arthur, Texas, and pillar of his community, peacefully passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on August 28, 1934, in Port Arthur, he dedicated his life to serving others through a robust career and unwavering family commitments.

Austin served valiantly in the Marines, embodying the strength and honor that defined his character throughout his life. Following his military service, he devoted over three decades to protecting and ensuring the safety of his fellow citizens. His career was marked by notable positions, including twelve years as a Detective with the Port Arthur Police Department, along with 23 years providing security at Gulf Oil before retiring from his esteemed position at Chevron. He also served 13 years with the Marshals Service in Beaumont as a Court Security Officer.

Austin was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, Texas, serving at various times as an usher, eucaristic minister, and adult altar server. He also enjoyed videography, filming many weddings, class reunions, and other events over the years. At home, he was also an avid gardener and woodworker, and spent years as a member of the Rayburn 100 RV Club joining them in camping and fishing.

He was a deeply loving husband to his wife, Marjorie West Solis, whom he held dear throughout their life together in Port Arthur. Austin's legacy continues through their daughters, Stephanie Albers and her husband, Dwight of Fredricksburg, Texas, and Leslie Solis of Port Arthur. His family expanded with grandchildren Ashley Naivar and her husband, Jason of Kingwood, Bryan Albers of Dallas, and Mark Wayne Solis II and his wife, Ruby of Nederland, along with his beloved great-grandchildren, Harper Naivar and Leighton Naivar and his sisters, Anna M. Solis, Henrietta Solis, and Victoria S. Melancon and her husband, William, all of Nederland.

Austin is now reunited in eternal rest with his parents, Dionisio and Maria Solis, and his son, Mark Solis. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Felix Soliz, Don S. Solis, Jim Solis, and Johnny Solis, and his sisters, Theresa Garcia and Socorro Burns.
