Ann Vanderwerth Wolford Dodson Ann Vanderwerth Wolford Dodson, 103, died on February 26, 2010 in Houston, Texas. A native of Lexington, Texas, she had been a resident of Port Arthur since 1928 except for an interval of thirteen years living in Illinois, Florida and finally Houston. After graduating from high school in Bryan, Texas she attended college at Texas Women's University, Texas A&M University, and Texas University, receiving a degree from T.W.U. and later an advanced degree from the University of Houston. She enjoyed studying and teaching religion, gardening, flower arranging, international travel, and friends in many places. She was a member of the Port Arthur Reading Club, an active member of St. George's Episcopal Church, Chapter C P of P.E.O., Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Tejas Garden Club, Port Arthur Historical Society, several bridge clubs, and had been a teacher in the Port Arthur School system for eighteen years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Port Neches, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2425 Nall Street, Port Neches, Texas with Reverend Cliff Rucker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. W. W. Wolford in 1959, and by her second husband, Charles H. Dodson in 1972 and two step-children, C.H. Dodson, and Bruce Dodson. She is survived by one son and his wife, Van and Bernice Wolford, two grand-daughters, Cindy Sumner and husband, John and Cheryl Wolford, three great-grandchildren, Spencer, Shelby, and Ross Sumner; two step-children, Dr. Mary Helen Kahn, and Durrett Dodson, nine step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. Friends wishing to make memorial contributions may send them to the Port Arthur Historical Society or to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 2425 Nall Street, Port Neches, Tx. 77651.
