She was born on November 12, 1921, in the quaint town of Gueydan, Louisiana, where she began a remarkable journey filled with love, dedication, and vibrant memories.
Altie's career as a Nurse's Aide at Mid-Jefferson Hospital spanned an impressive 15 and a half years. Her compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to caring for others left a lasting impact on the lives she touched. She exemplified the spirit of service, wholeheartedly dedicating herself to improving the wellbeing of those around her.
Beyond her professional life, Altie was a woman of many interests and passions. She found joy in playing cards, often gathering with family and friends for spirited games that fostered laughter and connection. Additionally, she loved fishing and spent many tranquil hours by the water, relishing the beauty of nature. Crafting was another beloved pursuit, channeling her creativity into projects that brought smiles to those she cared about.
Altie was a proud mother to her children: Phoebe Dalgo of Plaucheville, Louisiana; Mary Lane Robin of Vidor, Texas; Wayne Ozio and his wife Deborrah of Nederland, Texas; Wanda Gotte of Vidor, Texas; and Karen Hinton of Plaucheville, Louisiana. She was also the adoring grandmother to 14 grandchildren and the treasured great-grandmother to 36 great-grandchildren, and great great grandmother to 35 great great grandchildren and great great great grandmother to 3 great great great grandchildren, all of whom were fortunate to receive her love and guidance.
Altie's legacy is deeply enriched by the cherished memories she created, especially with her beloved husband, Manuel Ozio, who predeceased her after sharing 69 years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by her late children Judith Marie Ozio, Donald Ozio, and Dwight Ozio. Her profound influence and nurturing spirit will remain etched in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
Services for Altie Ozio will be held on November 16, 2024, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Visitation will commence at 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, allowing family and friends to gather and honor her remarkable life.
