A Life Remembered

Obituary

Alfred Gonzales, Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on April 4, 1952, Alfred lived a life full of dedication to his family, faith, and community. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 48 years, Gloria Gonzales; his daughter, Olivia Ross and her husband, Ryan and his son, Justin Alfred Gonzales and his wife, Kati.

Alfred was a man of many passions. A former parishioner of Immaculate Conception/St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, he shared his musical talent by playing guitar in the church choir and later attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. His love for music extended to both country and church genres. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially grilling and smoking meats, and had a deep affection for animals. Alfred was a dedicated volunteer firefighter for Water District 10 and served his community further as a member of the Emergency Response team and an EMT. He also dedicated 50 years of service to Gulf/Valero and was an avid fan of college football and the Dallas Cowboys.

Known for his playful spirit and being a true jokester, Alfred cherished his family and close friends above all else. He will be deeply missed by his grandson, Joshua Justin Gonzales, and his beloved grand pups, Rosie, Romeo, Roxie, and Daisy, as well as his grand kittens, Kobe and Kali. He is also survived by his brothers, Tony Gonzales and his girlfriend, Mary, and Jesse Gonzales and his wife, Christy, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Gonzales, Sr. and Mary Louise Hernandez, and his sister, Rebecca Smith.

A Rosary will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 4:30 PM, followed by a visitation beginning at 5:00 PM until 8 pm at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, Texas.

The family extends a special thank you to Altus Hospice and his compassionate nurses, Cristy and Nika, for their dedicated care.
